Available only to registered hardware & software developers, Apple's Computer Hardware Understanding Developer Tools (CHUD Tools) were designed to allow you to effectively measure and optimize the performance of PowerPC Mac systems running Mac OS X.
This is basically a must-have for you, if you have a dual CPU Macintosh as it enables "napping". Enable Nap allows the processors to coast when not under heavy load which can decrease temp by 20F degrees without loss of performance.
Note: This feature is enabled by default on single processor machines, so is not needed.
