Mac OS Runtime for Java is Apple's OS-level method for running Java applets on System 7. While some web browsers, including Netscape Navigator/Communicator come with their own Java implementations built-in, many other applications (such as Microsoft Internet Explorer) require this helper application to perform their Java-based tasks.
